Workshop 2 Wales – Male Victim Aspects – Adam Rees

The Dyn project provides support and advice to male victims of domestic abuse in Wales. The aim of this session is to introduce the issues surrounding male victims and to discuss the obstacles in service provision.

Using the experiences of the Dyn project, the session will consider the issue of screening male victims and how this works within a multi-agency setting.

PRESENTER BIOGRAPHY

Adam Rees
Adam Rees left the University of Glamorgan in 2004 with a law degree and a postgraduate diploma in Law.  Adam was previously chair of Cardiff-Wales Lesbian and Gay Mardi Gras before taking over as Project Coordinator for the Dyn Project in 2007.  As part of Safer Wales and Cardiff Women’s Safety Unit, the project supports male victims of domestic abuse while acknowledging the asymmetric nature of domestic abuse and striving to engage with all elements of the domestic abuse field.  The Dyn Project still provides support to male victims of domestic abuse but has recently grown from a local advocacy project within Cardiff  to a national project  providing a helpline, website and awareness training across Wales.
